At Newlands Primary Academy, we teach History through the Hamilton Trust curriculum, which inspires children to develop a curiosity about the past and understand how it has shaped the world we live in today. Through engaging topics and carefully planned enquiries, pupils explore significant events, influential individuals and important civilisations from local, British and world history. 

Children are encouraged to think and work as historians by asking questions, examining evidence, exploring artefacts and considering different interpretations of the past. Through historical enquiry, they learn to investigate, analyse and make informed judgements about historical events and their significance.

Our curriculum develops pupils' understanding of key historical concepts such as change and continuity, cause and consequence, similarity and difference, and historical significance. Learning is carefully sequenced to enable children to make connections between different periods of history and build a secure understanding of chronology. 

Through immersive learning experiences, discussion and investigation, we aim to foster a lifelong interest in history and help children understand how the past has influenced their lives and the diverse world around them.
