At Newlands Primary Academy, we teach Geography through the Hamilton Trust curriculum, which inspires children to be curious about the world and their place within it. Through engaging, enquiry-based learning, pupils explore a range of local, national and global topics, developing their understanding of people, places and environments. 

Children learn to think and work like geographers, asking questions, investigating issues and drawing conclusions from the evidence they gather. They develop key geographical skills through fieldwork, map work, data collection and the use of atlases, globes and digital mapping tools. 

Our curriculum helps pupils understand both physical and human geography, exploring themes such as weather, climate, rivers, oceans, settlements and the impact people have on the environment. Learning is carefully sequenced to build knowledge over time and encourage children to make connections between the local area and the wider world. 

Through Geography, we aim to develop informed, responsible and curious global citizens who appreciate the diversity of our world and understand the importance of caring for it.
