At Newlands Primary Academy, our Art curriculum is inspired by the AccessArt approach, providing children with a rich, diverse and creative visual arts education. We believe that every child is an artist and should have opportunities to explore, experiment, create and express themselves through a wide range of artistic experiences. The curriculum develops children’s skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage and mixed media, while encouraging curiosity, resilience and creative thinking. Pupils learn about a diverse range of artists, designers and makers, helping them to understand the importance of art in the wider world and empowering them to develop their own unique artistic voice. Through sketchbooks, practical exploration and reflection, children build confidence, creativity and a lifelong appreciation of the visual arts.
