PE

At Newlands Primary Academy, we teach PE through the Get Set 4 PE curriculum, which provides a broad, progressive and inclusive programme of physical education for all children. Through high-quality teaching and a wide range of physical activities, we aim to inspire pupils to develop a lifelong enjoyment of sport, exercise and healthy living.

Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to build knowledge, skills and confidence over time. Children develop fundamental movement skills, including running, jumping, throwing, catching, balance, agility and coordination, which provide the foundations for success across a range of sports and physical activities.

Pupils participate in a variety of areas including gymnastics, dance, athletics, games, outdoor and adventurous activities, and swimming. Through these experiences, children learn the importance of teamwork, resilience, determination and fair play, while also developing their physical competence and confidence.

We believe that PE plays a vital role in supporting children's physical health, mental wellbeing and personal development. Our aim is for every child to leave Newlands Primary Academy with the skills, confidence and motivation to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.
