At Newlands Primary Academy, we teach Design and Technology through the Projects on a Page scheme, developed by the Design & Technology Association. This engaging and progressive curriculum enables children to become creative problem-solvers, designers and innovators by designing, making and evaluating products for real purposes and audiences. 

Children develop their knowledge and skills across a range of areas including structures, mechanisms, textiles, food and nutrition, and electrical systems. Through practical, hands-on projects, pupils learn to investigate existing products, generate and communicate ideas, select and use appropriate tools and materials, and evaluate their outcomes to improve their designs. 

The curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure progression in both technical knowledge and design skills as children move through the school. By encouraging creativity, resilience and critical thinking, Design and Technology helps pupils understand how products are developed and equips them with the confidence and skills to shape the world around them.
