Mrs J Thornton - Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher (for looked after pupils)

Mrs Thornton is the founding Headteacher of Newlands Primary Academy.  Having been a Headteacher with the University of Chichester Academy Trust for five years and in senior leadership in primary schools since 2013, she has a wealth of experience to ensure that Newlands is a successful school.  Mrs Thornton has a Masters degree in Education and is completing her NPQEL, an executive leadership qualification.  Mrs Thornton has a background in SEND and pre-school provisions prior to her work in schools which will be valuable to Newlands as the doors open for the first cohort in September 2025.
